Even though you’ve packed up and are not on-campus, UCS is still here! Summer is a great time to meet with us to set new goals, polish your resume, meet with the pre-health advisor, or complete a mock interview.

You don’t have to be in Chapel Hill, either. We’re happy to chat with you over the phone or set-up a skype appointment to discuss the same topics as a face-to-face appointment. When you call or set-up the appointment using our online scheduler, simply indicate the preference to “meet” virtually and provide your skype name, if needed. We’ll reach out to you if we need any other information.

To grow professionally while you’re away, think in broad terms. Every year, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) surveys employers in an effort to understand what they value most in a new hire. Reviewing this list sometimes points students in a direction that may help frame their summer experience. Take a look and see what you would perceive as achieved and not-yet-achieved and use the not-yet-achieved items as your method of being intentional about your summer experiences. You can gain the previously mentioned skills in a myriad of ways, it’s all about how you articulate their value.

It doesn’t matter how you’re spending summer as there’s always something that UCS can support. So, make an appointment and we’ll assist you in developing a plan that can help you grow while you’re away from campus.
