After a long grey winter, it is suddenly spring! The campus is in bloom, mid -terms are almost done and Spring Break is here. It is time to lay back catch some sun, watch some basketball and forget about the world. If you have already wrapped up your job or internship search, congratulations. If you are one of the many students who are still searching, Spring Break is great time re-charge your efforts. You’ll still have time to relax.

A few suggestions:

Update your resume, make sure that the wording of your resume and the skills and experiences you are highlighting match the positions you are interested in.

Use Careerolina to find job and internship listing. It is updated continually.

Update your LinkedIn account and get busy networking. Repeat! Networking is essential to a successful search. To learn more about networking go to https://careers.unc.edu/students/networking-and-social-media

Take advantage of being home or in a new town to connect with alumni, family friends or potential employers and conduct informational interviews.

Expand your search. If you have been limiting your search to just a few organizations, industries or job titles, consider widening your search. Always aim for your “perfect” job or internship but also have plans B and C. Consider applying to positions that may not BE your dream job but will prepare you FOR your dream job.

Visit or make a phone appointment with a UCS counselor who can help you re-charge your search. We are open during break.
