Did you know that UCS occupies two floors of Hanes Hall? If you’ve participated in on-campus interviewing, you know that space all too well. For those of who haven’t, allow me to share some more details with you.
On-campus interviewing happens each semester and varies between companies/industries, but the busiest time is at the beginning of each semester. While many of the companies fall within the business industry, many are represented throughout the year. When you get off the elevator you’ll be greeted by a lot of suits and a UCS staff member to help you check-in.
There are benefits to completing a first-round interview in this space and the main one is convenience. Depending on the day, there could be up to six companies interviewing students and it is possible for a student to have scheduled interviews with several employers. Many of the employers travel to UNC from Charlotte, Atlanta, NY, etc. and make it more convenient for students to get through the first stage of the interview process on-campus. To view a list of the companies that participate in on-campus interviewing, visit our site and select “Students” and then “Professional Job Search” to see a list that updated as companies confirm.
You may wonder how to go about securing an interview for these positions and the answer is simple: apply! You’ll find the position in Careerolina, submit the required documents, and then wait to receive a request for interview. Let UCS help you prepare by reviewing your resume and/or cover letter and prepping you through a mock interview. Schedule either through the website, careers.unc.edu, or attend a workshop to learn the basics. Look forward to seeing you soon-on either floor!
